HADRAMOUT, May 25 (YPA) – Two separate car explosions occurred on Sunday in the cities of Mukalla and Sayoun in Hadramout province, which are under Saudi-led coalition’s control in eastern Yemen, sparking panic among citizens.
Local sources reported that the first explosion occurred in the city of Mukalla, the provincial capital, when a gas cylinder caught fire inside a gas-powered car, completely burning it down. Despite citizens’ attempts to extinguish the fire with water, they were unsuccessful, and no casualties were reported.
The sources stated that the second explosion occurred in a gas-powered Hiace bus used for passenger transport in Sayoun, causing a fire and fear among citizens. The residents were later able to control the blaze.
Incidents of explosions and fires of modified gas-powered cars are recurring in Hadramout and other southern provinces, which, according to residents, have turned into “time bombs” threatening their lives amid the absence of deterrent measures by the local authorities loyal to the coalition.
