HODEIDA, May 25 (YPA) – A United Nations delegation visited the Public Al-Thawra Hospital in Hodeida city on Sunday today to assess the humanitarian situation and healthcare needs while strengthening coordination to identify priorities for emergency interventions.
The delegation inspected vital departments such as emergency care, the malnutrition center, the blood bank, and the pediatric ward to evaluate the services provided amidst challenging humanitarian conditions.
Dr. Khaled Suhail, head of the hospital board, presented a report highlighting shortages in diagnostic equipment and medications, and a power outage due to a lack of diesel. He underscored the limited support from humanitarian organizations compared to actual needs, calling for greater assistance to rural hospitals to relieve pressure on the Al-Thawra Hospital and ensure an equitable distribution of healthcare services.
Rosaria Bruno from OCHA commended the medical efforts and reaffirmed ongoing support for the health sector, particularly in emergency care and malnutrition programs. She emphasized the importance of expanding humanitarian interventions through collaboration with relevant authorities.
