GAZA, May 23 (YPA) -Al-Awda Hospital, in northern Gaza Strip, has issued an urgent appeal to international humanitarian organizations following a devastating fire that engulfed its medicine warehouse.
The hospital called on the International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Health Organization, and United Nations agencies to intervene immediately to contain the damage and support ongoing emergency efforts.
According to a statement released by the hospital administration, the fire continues to burn out of control, posing a significant risk to both patients and medical staff.
Efforts to extinguish the blaze have been severely hampered, as civil defense crews are unable to reach the hospital due to intensified Israeli military activity and restricted access in the area.
Al-Awda Hospital warned that without swift action, the fire could lead to a complete breakdown of healthcare services in northern Gaza, an area already grappling with a humanitarian crisis.
On Thursday, the warehouse was attacked, Israeli occupation forces also shelled the reception floor of Al-Awda Hospital.
Throughout the current genocidal war, Israel has claimed that hospitals in Gaza are being used by armed factions, though no concrete evidence has been presented.
These assertions have been challenged by international media investigations and human rights organizations, which have found no verification of such use.
