Sanaa condemns EU’s “biased” position

SANAA, May 21 (YPA) – The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the recent conclusions issued by the EU Council regarding Yemen, describing them as inaccurate and biased.

The ministry asserted that the true threat to regional stability and maritime navigation is posed by the Zionist entity and its international backers.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the ministry criticized the European Union for its failure to exert pressure on “Israel” to end its genocide in Gaza, while turning a blind eye to US-Israeli attacks on Yemen. Instead, the EU unjustly called for an end to Yemen’s defensive actions against Israel.

It clarified that the maritime blockade imposed by the Yemeni Armed Forces targets only the Israeli occupation and came in response to the international community’s failure to lift the siege on Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also affirmed Yemen’s commitment to the safety and security of the Red Sea and its firm rejection of its militarization, emphasizing that its protection should be limited to the littoral states.

It pointed out that it was the United States that obstructed peace efforts in Yemen after a roadmap had been agreed upon, due to Yemen’s  principled stance in support of Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded its statement by reaffirming the Republic of Yemen’s continued support for Gaza, including through the ban on maritime and air navigation to the usurping Zionist entity, until its aggression ends and the blockade on Gaza is lifted.
