Hamas welcomes joint UK-France-Canada statement on Gaza

HAMAS, May 20 (YPA) –The  Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas”  on Monday welcomed the joint statement issued by the leaders of Britain, France, and Canada, calling it “a significant step in the right direction.”

In an official statement, Hamas said the declaration reflects a principled stance against the Israeli occupation’s policy of siege and starvation targeting Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as well as Zionist plans of genocide and forced displacement.

The Movement described the position as “an important step towards restoring the principles of international law”, which, it said, have been systematically undermined by the “terrorist government of Netanyahu.”

Hamas called for the statement to be urgently translated into effective, practical steps that would deter the occupation and end the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza caused by Israel’s ongoing military campaign.

The Movement also urged Arab and Islamic countries, the European Union, and the international community to take decisive and concrete action to halt the “savage Zionist aggression,” curb the Israeli military’s ongoing crimes, and ensure accountability for what it called a “rogue state” and its leaders, whom it described as war criminals.

“Such steps are essential to protecting civilians and putting an end to the occupation’s fascism, genocide, and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people in Gaza,” Hamas stated.
