CAIRO, May 19 (YPA) – An Egyptian military helicopter crashed on Monday into the Mediterranean Sea in the Ras El-Bar area of Damietta province, north of Cairo.
According to local sources and eyewitnesses, the aircraft crash was caused by technical difficulties during a routine training mission, sparking panic among vacationers and other citizens present at the scene.
Immediately, Ras El Bar Police Department forces, supported by ambulances and civil defense vehicles, rushed to the scene and imposed a wide security cordon around the area.
Other sources reported that the aircraft crashed into the sea, necessitating a marine rescue operation to secure the site and search for survivors or injured persons.
No official statement has yet been issued by the Egyptian government or the military spokesman for the Egyptian Armed Forces, clarifying the details of the incident.
