BBC terminates services of senior presenter supporting Palestine

LONDON, May 19 (YPA) – The BBC has terminated the services of Gary Lineker, the BBC’s highest-paid presenter, after he had shared a pro-Palestinian post on his Instagram page.

“Gary has acknowledged the mistake he made, and we have agreed together that he will not present any more programmes after the end of this season,” the BBC Director General Tim Davie said.

Lineker had been accused of anti-Semitism even after he apologized for sharing a post from a pro-Palestinian group and then deleted it from his official Instagram account. The post was accompanied by an image of a mouse.

He was among 500 prominent figures who signed an open letter last February demanding the BBC rebroadcast a documentary titled “Gaza: How to Survive.”
