Dozens of Palestinians killed as Israeli occupation targets school-turned-shelter in central Gaza

GAZA, May 07 (YPA) – Dozens of Palestinian civilians were killed and injured on Tuesday evening as Israeli bombing targeted a school-turned-shelter to the east of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian official News Agency WAFA.

The Agency said that an Israeli airstrike targeted Abu Hamisa school, sheltering displaced civilians to the east of the refugee camp, killing at least 18 civilians and injuring dozens of others.

It added that fatalities and casualties were rushed to Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah as well as to Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat.

The agency noted that among the fatalities were at least seven children, pointing out that the bodies of slain Palestinians were hurled into the air above the school buildings due to the intensity of bombardment.

Meanwhile, medical sources said that rescue and emergency teams were attempting to pull the bodies of the fatalities and casualties trapped under the rubble.
