ADEN, May 05 (YPA)-Power outages in Aden, controlled by the Saudi-led coalition, now stretch to 19 hours daily, with only 90 minutes of electricity supply as temperatures soar
A local informed source stated that all power plants in the city are completely out of service, except for the Petromasila plant, which is generating power erratically, providing no more than 65 to 70 megawatts.
The source confirmed that the actual electricity demand in Aden is approximately 700 megawatts, while there is a shortfall of about 630 megawatts, leading to a near-total collapse of the power service.
The source attributed the total power outage to the depletion of diesel and mazut fuel in the storage tanks of the power plants, with no action taken by the coalition countries to provide the necessary fuel and resolve the crisis.
Aden has seen growing public unrest since last week due to power outages and a sharp decline in living conditions caused by the collapse of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies.
