Aden Electricity Corporation declares complete collapse of service

ADEN, April 27 (YPA) – The he General Electricity Corporation in the coalition-controlled city of Aden confirmed that the PetroMasila power plant went out of service on Friday due to a severe fuel shortage.

The corporation added in a statement that all diesel-powered power plants would be out of service due to fuel shortages, noting that the Mansoura power plant might not be able to continue operating for more than three days unless diesel be urgently provided.

The statement warned of a complete power outage in various parts of the city, calling on the “Saudi-formed Presidential Leadership Council and the coalition-backed Aden government” to take action to provide the necessary fuel to ensure continued electricity service and alleviate the suffering of citizens.

The Islah-affiliated authorities in Marib refused to supply the PetroMasila, PetroMasila, the state-owned oil exploration and production company in Yemen, with four tankers of crude oil per day from the Safer facility, contributing to the plant’s shutdown.

The Aden government has been unable to secure fuel shipments for power plants in Aden and several other provinces, including Lahj and Shabwa, as summer season approaches and temperatures soar, amid mounting local anger among citizens.
