UAE operates two flights on internationally banned aircraft to Aden Gulf

ADEN, April 24 (YPA) – The UAE has operated two internationally banned aircraft, one of which is linked to the Wagner Group, to the Gulf of Aden and the Horn of Africa.

Flightradar24, a website specializing in air traffic tracking, revealed the Abakan Air aircraft, IL-76TD, 152A52, which is listed under the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) ban, departed Al Safran Air Base, a military air base operated by the United Arab Emirates Air Force, on Wednesday and ceased tracking over the Gulf of Aden.

Another sanctioned flight linked to the Wagner Group was detected using an IL-76TD aircraft, Ilyushin, operated by Abakan Airlines.

He explained that the aircraft’s registration number, RA-76370, took off on Tuesday from the UAE-based Al Reef Base in Abu Dhabi to Bosaso, Puntland.
