Guterres’ statement, conveyed by his spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, regarding the situation in Yemen, said, “The Secretary-General is deeply concerned by the airstrikes carried out by the United States on 17 and 18 April in and around the port of Ras Isa in Yemen, which reportedly resulted in numerous civilian casualties, including injuries to five humanitarian workers.”
Guterres expressed concern over the severe damage to the port’s infrastructure, as well as reports of a possible oil spill in the Red Sea, according to the statement.
