GAZA, April 13 (YPA) – The Government Information Office in Gaza said that the Israeli occupation is waging a systematic war of thirst against more than 2.4 million Palestinians in the Strip, turning water into a tool of genocide and a weapon of slow killing.
He indicated in a statement that the occupation deliberately disrupted two water pipelines east of Gaza City and in the central governorate, depriving more than 700,000 citizens of water.
The office added that the occupation cut off the electricity line that supplies the desalination plant in Deir al-Balah, exposing the lives of about 800,000 people to severe thirst.
The office explained that the occupation forces destroyed 90% of the water and sanitation infrastructure in the Strip.
He stated that the competent authorities have recorded more than 1.7 million water-related diseases.
The only water generating station in the central and southern regions of Gaza has stopped due to the occupation’s ban on the entry of fuel for 42 days, which has led to water tankers stopping supplying families in most areas of the Strip, forcing many to walk for hours to obtain a single gallon of water.
