Yemen’s air defenses down 18th US MQ-9 drone In Jawf

SANAA, April 08 (YPA) – The Yemeni Armed Forces announced the downing of a US MQ-9 drone while it was conducting a hostile mission over Jawf Governorate. The strike marks the 18th confirmed downing of an MQ-9 UAV by the Yemeni Armed Forces since the Israeli aggression on Gaza began in late 2023.

The Yemeni Armed Forces Issued the following statement:

“In response to the ongoing American aggression against our country and its horrific massacres against our people, during the past hours, the US launched a number of raids on various areas, resulting in martyrs, injuries, and damage to citizens’ properties.

 With the help of Allah Almighty, our air defenses were able to shoot down an American MQ-9 drone while it was carrying out hostile missions in the airspace of Al-Jawf Governorate, using a suitable, locally manufactured missile.

This is the third drone our air defenses have successfully shot down in ten days, and the eighteenth during the battle of Promised Victory and Holy Jihad in support of Gaza.

The Yemeni Armed Forces affirm their continued support for Gaza and their continued implementation of their defensive missions to confront any aggression against our country.

They are fully prepared to deal responsibly with any attempt to undermine our sovereignty, security, and stability, and our operations will not cease until the aggression against Gaza stops and the blockade is lifted.”
