US Senate rejects effort to block arms sales to “Israel”

WORLD, April 06 (YPA) -The US Senate firmly rejected an attempt to block an $8.8 billion arms sale to “Israel”,on April 03, amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza following Israeli airstrikes on the region and the suspension of humanitarian aid shipments.

The Senate voted 82-15 and 83-15 to reject two resolutions of disapproval over sales of massive bombs and other offensive military equipment.

The resolutions were introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who is an Independent but works with the Democrats.

In both instances, Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin voted “Yes.”

“What’s happening now is unbelievable,” Sanders said. “Today, it’s been 31 days and counting, and no humanitarian aid has reached Gaza. Nothing at all. No food, no water, no medicine, no fuel, for over a month.”

“Israel”, which says this suspension is aimed at pressuring Hamas in ceasefire talks, has suspended shipments of food, medicine, and fuel.
