HODEIDA, April 05 (YPA) -The Coast Guard Authority in the Red Sea sector, affiliated with the Sana’a government in Hodeida governorate, has urged citizens and visitors to refrain from swimming in the sea and beaches during this period due to the high water levels and strong sea currents, which pose a significant risk to the lives of vacationers.
In a statement released on Friday, the authority explained that this warning follows the drowning of four individuals who were swimming at Hodeida beaches.
Rescue teams were only able to recover their bodies after significant efforts, due to the rough sea conditions.
The statement highlighted that the sea is experiencing an unusual rise in water levels and changes in the movement of sea currents, which increases the likelihood of drowning incidents.
The authority urged citizens to remain cautious and called on the relevant authorities to activate and intensify awareness campaigns. It stressed the importance of following safety instructions and warnings to ensure the well-being of all.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that the Coast Guard is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to issue alerts based on the latest developments regarding the maritime conditions.
