Massive fire breaks out at power station in Shabwa

SHABWA, March 25 (YPA) – A massive fire broke out on Monday morning at a power generation station in the Mayfa’a district of Shabwa Governorate, which is under the control of UAE-backed factions in southeastern Yemen.

Local sources in the district stated that the fire at the Al-Huta Station was triggered by the poor condition of the electrical transformers, which had exceeded their operational lifespan, along with the absence of routine maintenance.

They added that the dense vegetation surrounding the station contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.

The residents of the Al-Huta area called on the Electricity Corporation to take immediate action to evaluate the damage, repair the remaining equipment, and prevent further deterioration of services in light of the challenging conditions in the governorate.

This incident comes at a time when Shabwa is suffering from the deterioration of basic services, exacerbating the suffering the residents due to the lack of sustainable solutions.
