Egypt rejects US military presence in Red Sea, warns of regional instability

CAIRO, March 24 (YPA) -The Arab Republic of Egypt has renewed its firm rejection of the militarization of the Red Sea, following the announcement by the United States of America to deploy new aircraft carriers to the region.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed in a press statemen, on Sunday, that the militarization of the Red Sea does not serve any party, calling for political solutions that ensure the stability of the region and its maritime security.

The Red Sea is one of the most important global shipping routes, connecting the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea via the Suez Canal.

This makes its militarization by Western countries a cause for instability in the region, negatively impacting the global economy and supply chains.
