SANAA, March 24 (YPA) – Sanaa-based Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jamal Amer, held on Sunday a meeting with the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Sanaa, Julian Harneis.
In the meeting, the two officials discussed the work reports of international organizations operating in Yemen, in addition to reviewing the results of the Resident Coordinator’s recent meetings with donors.
They also discussed the procedures and mechanisms in place to transfer funded projects that a number of NGOs previously implemented and have closed their offices in Yemen to other organizations to complete those projects.
Mr. Amer affirmed that a Legal Support Department was established within the ministry to be responsible for providing legal awareness to the UN employees working to resolve any disputes between them and international organizations, in addition to providing legal advice and guidance to international organizations on Yemeni laws to avoid misunderstandings or violations.
For his part, Harneis indicated that the United Nations would continue to provide humanitarian services in Yemen, emphasizing that this was a global problem that affects all countries in need of humanitarian support and assistance.
