Sanaa warns Saudi-UAE coalition of any steps targeting Yemeni banks

SANAA, March 21 (YPA) – An official at the Sanaa-based Central Bank of Yemen warned on Friday the Saudi and Emirati coalition’s allies against continuing to harass and threaten Yemeni banks.

In a statement issued on Friday, the official considered this harassment to be part of a broader effort to target the national economy and exploit the so-called US designation to threaten the banking sector, at the direct behest of their Saudi and Emirati sponsors, in service of the American enemy.

The Saba News Agency quoted the official as saying that “the US-backed Saudi coalition’s tools are trying to exploit the so-called US designation to threaten and intimidate the banking sector, forcing banks to comply with it or else they will inform their sponsors in Saudi Arabia and the UAE to coordinate with the US enemy and be placed on the sanctions lists.”

“The tools of the US-Saudi coalition have continued to threaten to impose a blockade on Yemeni airports and ports,” he added. “This comes in the context of serving the American and Zionist enemy, due to the honorable stance of the Yemeni people in supporting the grievance of Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The official pointed out that the Saudi regime’s tools have consistently and publicly expressed their readiness to confront the blockade imposed on the Zionist entity by Yemen, in clear alignment with the American and Israeli enemy.

He noted that the coalition’s tools could not have taken any action without receiving orders from their sponsors in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, stressing that past experiences have been revealed to the Yemeni people.

“The economic front remains cohesive and the efforts of all state institutions, and popular awareness,” the official added. “The Central Bank is fulfilling its duty to protect the banking sector from extortion by the aggression’s mercenaries.”

The official considered that any steps taken by the coalition’s tools, whether directly or through the American enemy, would be borne by the Saudi regime and would not be immune from them, as this would be a clear violation of the truce agreement and a direct reversal of all previous understandings, and the regime must bear the full consequences.
