US forces send military reinforcements to their base in northern Iraq

SANAA, March 17 (YPA) – The US forces sent their largest batch of military reinforcements from Turkey and Syria to the Harir Air Base in northern Iraq, on Sunday.

The Iraqi Al-Maalomah News Agency reported that the Harir Air Base, where US forces have been stationed for years near Erbil, received three US combat reinforcement convoys in less than a week, arriving directly from Syria and Turkey.

The agency pointed out that the recently arrived convoys included modern military equipment, in addition to dozens of soldiers, whereas the transfer operations of these reinforcements are unannounced, in an attempt to avoid attracting attention.

She stressed that these reinforcements are the largest of their kind in four years, according to the latest reports.

She also noted that the base is witnessing rapid development of its defensive and service facilities, particularly in its eastern and western parts, which increases the likelihood of transforming it into a central base in northern Iraq and a logistical support point for US bases deployed in Syria.
