830 people of Alawite sect executed by armed groups in Syria

DAMASCUS, Mar. 09 (YPA) – The Syrian coast witnessed a dangerous escalation in violations against the Alawite sect, as armed groups loyal to the new Syrian government carried out field executions on Sunday against 830 people of the Alawite sect.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, groups belonging to the “Internal Security” of the new authority in Syria committed revenge crimes that led to the death toll from executions and sectarian violations on the Syrian coast rising to 1,311 victims. The observatory indicated that the city of Latakia alone witnessed the execution of 519 people.

Since last Friday, the Syrian coast and the Latakia Mountains have witnessed bloody events and liquidation operations targeting citizens on a sectarian and regional basis, resulting in hundreds of victims, including women and children.

The security forces, with the participation of elements of the Ministry of Defense and its allied forces, committed crimes classified as human rights violations and war crimes in the absence of any legal deterrent to prevent these attacks.
