OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Feb. 27 (YPA) – Amnesty International (AI) reported on Thursday that the Palestinian community of Al-Butum in the Masafer Yatta area is facing an imminent threat of forced displacement due to the escalation of Zionist settler attacks supported by the Israeli occupation authorities.
These violations include home demolitions, restrictions on access to land, and illegal settlement expansion.
The organization called on the Israeli occupation to immediately stop its policies of repression in the occupied West Bank and cancel all plans that may amount to collective punishment. It also noted that Israeli operations in the area have resulted in the displacement of approximately 40,000 Palestinians from the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams camps.
The AI explained that instead of supporting Israeli occupation in its illegal land seizure, which has dire consequences for the Palestinians, world leaders should exert pressure to push Israel to end its illegal occupation and dismantle the apartheid system imposed on the Palestinians.
The organization preceded other international organizations in accusing Israel of committing crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
In the same context, the Israeli occupation forces continue their repeated attacks on the camps in the occupied West Bank. Information issued by an Israeli non-governmental organization revealed that the Israeli Supreme Planning Council is working to approve the construction of 1,170 new settlement units in the West Bank.
In a previous report, an analysis conducted by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) showed a noticeable acceleration in the number of settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank in recent years.
In this regard, Faisal Salama, head of the Popular Committee for Services in Tulkarm Camp, confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces continue to impose a tight siege on the camp for the thirtieth consecutive day, causing widespread displacement among the population at gunpoint.
