Israeli occupation releases seventh batch of Palestinian prisoners as part of ceasefire deal

WEST BANK, Feb. 27 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation authorities released the seventh batch of Palestinian prisoners early this Thursday morning as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, while Hamas handed over four bodies of Israeli soldiers to the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Twelve buses carrying the released prisoners arrived in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. Meanwhile, others were transferred to the European Hospital due to the deterioration of their health condition.

Photos showed several prisoners with various signs of injuries. These prisoners are among about 470 detainees who will gradually arrive in the Gaza Strip after being released from Israeli prisons as part of the seventh batch of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” deal.

Additionally, a Red Cross bus transferred some of the released prisoners from Ofer Military Prison to Ramallah, while the Jerusalemite prisoners were freed from the “Meskobiya” prison, where their families were waiting to receive them.

Following this, the occupation forces fired tear gas at Palestinians who gathered to welcome the free prisoners in the West Bank town of Beitunia.

The Palestinian Red Crescent announced the reception of detainee Kazem Zawahra, who has been in a coma for months, and he is being transferred to a hospital in to Bethlehem

In the same context, Egyptian authorities received 97 Palestinian prisoners and transferred them to Egyptian territory. These individuals will be deported outside the occupied Palestinian territories.

At the same time, Hebrew media reported that the Israeli military received the bodies of its four soldiers from the Red Cross at the Kerem Shalom crossing.

The Prisoners’ Media Office announced in a statement that 620 prisoners will be freed in the seventh batch of the first phase, including 151 prisoners with life sentences and high sentences. Among them, 43 will be released to the West Bank and Jerusalem, 97 will be exiled abroad, and 11 were arrested from the Gaza Strip before October 7, 2023.
