Norway, Spain reject Trump’s plan to displace Gaza’s population

WORLD, Feb. 23 (YPA) – The foreign ministers of Norway, Espen Barth Eide, and Spain, José Manuel Albares, have reaffirmed their countries’ opposition to US President Donald Trump’s plan to displace the people of Gaza.

The ministers made these remarks on Saturday during the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide expressed concern about “certain indications regarding the displacement of Palestinians to other territories,” calling such actions a violation of international law.

He emphasized the importance of improving the quality of life for Palestinians, ensuring they have their own independent state, and supporting the reconstruction of Gaza, which has been heavily destroyed by Israeli military aggression, both physically and politically.

Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares affirmed that Gaza is Palestinian land and that Spain fully supports the Palestinian people, stating that they must remain in Gaza.

He also affirmed that Spain is providing humanitarian aid to Gaza to help restore normalcy for the Palestinian population and will be part of the reconstruction efforts in the region.
