Syrian doctor survives assassination attempt in Taiz

TAIZ, Feb. 18 (YPA) – Syrian urologist, Mahmoud Ahmed Abbas, survived an assassination attempt by an unknown gunman in areas controlled by the Islah factions in central Taiz.

Medical sources reported that Dr.Abbas was shot several times last night, in front of the gate of Al-Rawda Hospital in Al-Moshki neighborhood, which resulted in serious injuries to his thigh then he was transferred to the operating room to receive treatment.

The sources suggested that the gunman belonged to the Islah factions and managed to escape to an unknown location, without revealing the reasons for the attack that targeted the Syrian doctor.

The areas under the control of the coalition in Taiz are witnessing unprecedented security chaos since 2016, with similar attacks recorded on a number of medical facilities in the city.
