MHARA, Feb. 12 (YPA) – The head of the General Council of the people of Mahra and Socotra, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Afrar, called on the people of Mahra province to be vigilant against conspiracies targeting the security and stability of the province.
He explained during a meeting with tribal sheikhs and dignitaries on Tuesday that “Mahra will not be an arena for external agendas promoting extremism and terrorism.”
Al-Afrar emphasized his rejection of tampering with the land of Mahra or turning it into a foothold for spreading extremism and considered this a serious threat that must be eliminated early.
He also renewed his refusal of recruitment attempts of a sectarian or factional nature, warning of their danger to the unity of the social fabric and the stability of security, in reference to the Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” factions.
Al-Afrar held the “Presidential Leadership Council” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition responsible for any chaos or division in the province, noting the importance of the role of the tribes of Mahra and their dignitaries in preserving national cohesion.
He called for unifying ranks and working together to protect the security and social cohesion of Mahra.
