South Africa vows not to withdraw genocide case against Israel, despite US pressures

SOUTH AFRICA, Feb. 12 (YPA) – South Africa’s foreign minister, Ronald Lamola, has vowed not to back down from a legal case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, accusing it of committing genocide in Gaza, despite pressure from US President Donald Trump to cut off financial aid to his country.

Lamola told the Financial Times that South Africa remained steadfast in its stance on the lawsuit, adding that adhering to principles may have consequences but is necessary for the sake of justice and the rule of law worldwide.

Earlier this month, South Africa expressed concern over Trump’s recent executive order to halt all US aid to South Africa and to develop a plan to resettle white Africans as refugees.
