Israeli occupation continues its aggression on Jenin for 22nd day

WEST BANK, Feb. 11 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation continues the aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp for the twenty-second consecutive day, which has so far killed 25 Palestinians and left dozens of injuries, and massive destruction of infrastructure and property.

At dawn today, the occupation forces stormed the eastern neighborhood of the city of Jenin, accompanied by military bulldozers that began destroying the infrastructure and streets, citizens’ vehicles and property, and the occupation soldiers deployed their snipers in high buildings and on the roofs of houses.

The assistant governor of Jenin, Mansour al-Saadi, said that the occupation forces caused massive destruction in the Jenin camp and forcibly displaced more than 20,000 people.

The director of the Chamber of Commerce, Mohammad Kamil, told WAFA that the city’s market is completely closed, noting that the city has seen closures that exceeded 25 days since the beginning of this year, and that the occupation forces deliberately destroyed the infrastructure and the city’s economy.

He added that the repeated raids by the occupation on the city of Jenin led to a decline in purchasing power, difficulty in transporting and distributing goods, with difficulty of shop owners arriving to their shops, which affected all economic sectors within the city and its countryside, which amounted to about 1,400 shops.

According to the mayor of Jenin, Mohammad Jarar, the city has incurred economic losses exceeding $2 billion in infrastructure, buildings and shops, during the past three years, after being subjected to 104 continuous raids.

He pointed out that this aggression and the forced displacement is “the worst ever”, and coincides with difficult economic conditions, and that what is happening in Jenin is a disaster on all levels, especially with the displacement of 15,000 civilians in a small city like Jenin accompanied by very difficult economic conditions.

For the 22nd consecutive day, the occupation continues to demolish and burn citizens’ homes in the camp, amidst intensive flying of drones.

The occupation forces also destroyed the street leading to the purification station in Jenin and parts of it, while it continues to send military reinforcements accompanied by bulldozers to the city of Jenin and the surroundings of the camp.

Israeli mechanisms continue to besiege Jenin Governmental Hospital after bulldozing its entrance and the main street leading to it.

For the twenty-first consecutive day, the hospital’s departments suffer from a severe shortage of potable water, while the necessary hospital departments are operating at their minimum capacity due to the Israeli aggression.

Yesterday, the Israeli occupation forces burned an agricultural barn during their storming of the village of Al-Jadeeda, east of Jenin.
