LAHJ, Feb. 08 (YPA) – The Ras Omran area, west of Aden city in southern Yemen, witnessed armed clashes on Friday evening, resulting in one dead and five injuries.
Sources reported that Osama Al-Radfani, commander of the Saudi-backed Fourth Brigade of “Dera Al-Watan” forces, rebelled after the decision to dismiss him, seizing military equipment and heading towards Aden.
The brigade’s forces pursued his elements in the Ras Omran area and clashed with them, which led to the recovery of the equipment and the arrest of those involved.
Al-Radfani refused to comply with the decision and claimed to be carrying out a military mission to extract weapons. The brigade’s leaders uncovered his attempt and directed forces to intercept him, which led to the clash.
The sources described the rebellion as having regional dimensions that seek to marginalize the people of Al-Sabaiha in favor of forces from Radfan, Al-Dhale’e, and Yafea’, which sparked calls for defections within the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions and their joining the “Dera Al-Watan.”
