Israeli occupation gets list including 25 living prisoners: Hamas

GAZA, Jan. 27 (YPA) – Hamas movement announced on Monday that it had handed over to the Israeli occupation a list of the names of 25 living prisoners out of 33 expected to be released during the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.

This comes as Palestinians began returning to the northern Gaza Strip after the Israeli occupation forces withdrew from the Netzarim corridor that separates north and south Gaza.

Hamas said in a statement these moves came as part of the movement’s efforts to remove the pretexts put forward by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against the return of the displaced to the northern Gaza Strip, and to resolve the issue of the Israeli prisoner held by the resistance, Arbel Yehud.

The statement affirmed that the Movement presented a proposal to the mediators to conduct an additional exchange process that includes prisoner Arbel Yehud with two other prisoners of the occupation before next Friday.

It noted that “the exchange deal scheduled for next Saturday would remain on schedule and includes three prisoners of the occupation.

Under the ceasefire agreement, the first phase of the three-stage deal is scheduled to last six weeks, with the return of 33 Israeli detainees from Gaza in exchange for about 1,900 Palestinian detainees.
