OCHA: 2024 the most violent year of settler attacks against Palestinians

WEST BANK, Jan. 01 (YPA) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the occupied Palestinian territory reported that settlers were “involved in approximately 1,400 acts of violence against Palestinian citizens in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, during 2024.”

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the OCHA added that the assaults carried out by settlers in the occupied Palestinian territories have been documented for nearly 20 years, noting the involvement of settlers in around 1,400 incidents in 2024.

The statement mentioned that the attacks included physical assaults, arson, raids on Palestinian gatherings, as well as damage to fruit trees and the destruction of property.

It also pointed out that settlers were involved in about four incidents daily in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in 2024, leading to the displacement of many Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression on the Gaza Strip, by land, sea, and air, since October 7, 2023. This has resulted in the martyrdom and injury of approximately 160,000 people, the majority of whom are women and children.

At the same time, settlers and the occupation army have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the martyrdom of 835 citizens and the injury of 6,700 others, according to the Ministry of Health.
