ADEN, Dec. 31 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupted, on Tuesday, around the Maashiq Palace, which is the headquarters of the coalition-affiliated government in the southern Yemeni city of Aden.
Local sources in the city reported that the Transitional Council elements, led by Mania Al-Zubaidi, attacked a military point of the so-called “Protection Battalion” affiliated with the head of the Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, near Maashiq Palace in Crater area, amid reports of deaths and injuries.
The sources explained that the elements led by Al-Zubaidi, who is close to Mohammed Qasim Al-Zubaidi, “the brother of the head of the Transitional Council,” took control of the point near the Tawhid Mosque, because of financial disputes between him and the battalion commander, called “Fadel Hanash.”
The sources also stated that the elements of the “Protection Battalion” withdrew from the point due to the intensity of the fire into Maashiq Palace, amidst the widespread deployment of Transitional Council vehicles in the area.
