Former US President Jimmy Carter dies at 100

WORLD, Dec. 30 (YPA) – Former US President Jimmy Carter died Sunday after spending over a year in hospice care.

Carter, who turned 100 on Oct. 1 and is the longest-lived president in American history, died at his home in Plains Sunday surrounded by family.

Carter, a Democrat who served in the White House from 1977 to 1981, had been receiving hospice care for the past 19 months in his home state of Georgia, where he had previously been elected governor.
