Dozens of Syrians protest in Daraa, demanding withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces

DAMASCUS, Dec. 20 (YPA) – Dozens of Syrians staged protests in the Yarmouk Basin area of Daraa countryside, southern Syria, have begun, marking the first popular movement demanding the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces.

In response to the protests, the Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition at the protesters, injuring at least one.

On Thursday, the elders of the villages in the buffer zone in the occupied Syrian Golan in the Quneitra governorate called for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces behind the border lines.

They pointed out that the southern Syrian region in the buffer zone had witnessed rapid developments following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, with the sudden withdrawal of the Syrian army from its positions, creating a security vacuum in the area.

This came in a statement signed by six figures from the village leaders and elders, which was circulated by social media users and Israeli media outlets. However, “Arabi21” was unable to verify its authenticity.

The statement mentioned that the Israeli occupation army immediately infiltrated villages adjacent to the ceasefire line, under the pretext that some parties had opened fire on its forces present in the area.
