Sudan requires payment of compensation before dialogue with UAE
KHARTOUM, Dec. 19 (YPA) – Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef has urged Abu Dhabi to stop funding the Rapid Support Forces and to pay financial compensations before engaging in a dialogue with his country’s government.
This came in the Sudanese government’s reply to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s announcement of his readiness to mediate between Khartoum and Abu Dhabi to resolve their differences.
In an interview with the Sudanese website “Al-Muhaqqiq,” Youssef emphasized that “certain determinants must be agreed upon before Sudanese leadership agrees to negotiate with the UAE, including stopping military and logistical support for the Rapid Support Forces.”
He added that “Abu Dhabi must commit to preserving the unity, sovereignty, and institutions of Sudan, including the armed forces, in addition to paying financial compensation to the Sudanese people.”
Youssef stressed that the activation of the “Jeddah Declaration” on Sudan depends on the “Rapid Support” forces implementing the terms of the agreement signed on May 11, 2023.
