Al-Jolani grants foreign fighters Syrian citizenship

DAMASCUS, Dec. 19 (YPA) -Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, who now goes by his real name Ahmad al-Sharaa, the head of Hayat Tahir al-Sham (HTS) and Syria’s new de facto ruler, has stated that foreign fighters who helped his organization topple the Syrian government may be allowed to receive Syrian citizenship.

Media outlets reported that al-Shar’ stated that foreign fighters who entered Syria to fight against the Syrian government were part of the movement that led to the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, and they should be celebrated, as he expressed.

These statements come at a time of caution and concern within the international community regarding the developments.
