ANBAR, Dec. 18 (YPA) – Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), were able to dismantle three explosive devices in an operation to clear areas near the Tureibil border crossing with Jordan in western Anbar, security sources reported.
The sources stated in a press statement that “a security force from the PMF carried out a security operation targeting areas near the Tureibil border crossing with Jordan in western Anbar, based on intelligence reports indicating the presence of wanted individuals by the security forces and hideouts containing weapons and munitions left behind by the criminal ISIS gangs in the targeted areas.”
They added that “the operation resulted in the neutralization of three homemade explosive devices left behind by ISIS during their control over large areas of Anbar cities.”
The campaign’s aim is to track down ISIS cells in the desert areas with complex terrain and seize their weapons.
The sources explained that “the campaign was carried out from different axes, with each axis focusing on a specific security task, including tracking the wanted individuals, searching for weapons and ammunition caches, and finding ISIS terrorist hideouts and cells.”
They emphasized that “the explosives disposal unit neutralized the seized weapons without any casualties among the security forces.”
