Angry protests against coalition organized in Taiz

TAIZ, Dec. 17 (YPA) – The Yemeni Teachers Syndicate in the areas under the control of the coalition in Taiz governorate announced a comprehensive strike, after holding protests demanding the payment of teachers’ salaries that have been delayed since last October.

The union explained in a statement that the strike will cover all schools until all teachers’ salaries, which have been suspended since October, are paid in one payment.

She stressed that the interruption of salaries has exacerbated the living conditions of teachers without any economic reforms by the coalition government.

On the other hand, the Faculty Union at Taiz University held a protest to demand the payment of salaries and the improvement of their living conditions.

The Faculty Union threatened to go on a general strike if its demands were not met.

Last month, the Central Bank of Aden announced its financial inability to pay salaries and purchase a fuel shipment for the city’s power stations.

The leaders affiliated with the coalition seized all the financial resources and harnessed them for their personal interests by depositing them in accounts with private companies, while the authorities affiliated with the Islah Party in Marib refused to transfer the revenues to the Bank of Aden.
