BAGHDAD, Dec. 15 (YPA) – The mayor of Rutba district in Al-Anbar province, Iraq, Imad Mishal Al-Dulaimi, reported on Saturday evening that 2,100 former Syrian army personnel had entered Iraq since the fall of the previous regime, calling on humanitarian organizations to provide support for them.
Al-Dulaimi explained that these soldiers have been sheltered in tents at Al-Murasant Air base , noting that their humanitarian conditions are difficult due to the lack of electricity and water in the desert area where they are being housed.
He added that most of these soldiers wish to return to Syria after the amnesty decision was issued, but the closure of borders and airports has delayed their return.
