GAZA, Dec. 14 (YPA) – Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip, directed on Saturday an appeal for saving the health sector in the strip.
Dr. Abu Safia spoke out about the severe suffering Palestinians have endured due to Israeli bombings and the deterioration of the health sector.
“The use of explosive robots is a new war machine for us, and they are approaching the hospital every day. Three robots exploded yesterday, shattering the doors and windows of patients’ rooms. The sound was terrifying, and this situation has unfortunately become part of our daily routine,” Abu Safiya said.
Abu Safia stated that the artillery shelling and bombs dropped from Israeli drones are hindering the work of medical personnel, noting that about five bombs were dropped on the generator unit and the oxygen supply network, causing further damage.
He continued, “The Ministry of Health’s repair and maintenance team arrived, transferring six patients from the hospital. The World Health Organization provided a small amount of fuel, supplies, medical equipment, and food coupons. However, the Indonesian delegation, intended to stay at Kamal Adwan Hospital, returned.”
“Currently, about 60 injured people remain in Kamal Adwan Hospital, most of whom also need surgery,” Abu Safia added.
The Palestinian doctor confirmed that the situation in the Gaza Strip is extremely difficult and that medical personnel are working under constant fear amidst the shelling, terror, and merciless falling of explosives, all under very harsh conditions.
Abu Safia’s appeals to the international community came after 70 days of Israeli attacks on medical teams in the northern Gaza Strip’s healthcare system.
