Clashes in Aden leave UAE-backed militia member dead

ADEN, Dec. 13 (YPA) – One member of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias was killed in armed clashes in the city of Aden, which has been under the control of Saudi-led coalition since mid-2015.

Local sources in the city explained that a member of the ‘Third Support and Reinforcement Brigade,’ named ‘Akram Abdu Yusuf Ahmad Al-Subaihi, 25,’ was killed in armed clashes on Wednesday near the Bir Ahmed market for selling Qat in Al-Buraiqeh district.

It was confirmed that Al-Subaihi died from his wounds he sustained during the clashes that broke out between a leader of the Support and Reinforcement Brigade and his close associates due to family disputes.

The sources clarified that Al-Subaihi was accompanying the leader and was transferred to a hospital for treatment but passed away due to his injuries.

Aden has been experiencing an unparalleled level of insecurity and turmoil due to the lack of state authority since the coalition took control of the city. This situation has been further exacerbated by the proliferation of various factions involved in regional conflicts among their leaders over recent years, leading to the loss of hundreds of civilian lives.
