TAIZ, Dec. 12 (YPA) – A prisoner was killed in mysterious circumstances inside a detention center run by members of the Islah Party factions in the city of Taiz, controlled by the Saudi-led coalition in southern Yemen.
Human rights sources confirmed that the detainee, Anwar Mansour Abdo Zaid, was found hanged with a piece of cloth inside a cell in a detention center of the Usifra Police station, which is affiliated with the Islah factions.
Director of the police station, Mahyoub Al-Sharabi, stated that he learned about the death of the detainee in his cell only when one of his friends came to visit him on Tuesday.
Al-Sharabi explained that the prisoner, Zaid, was transferred by the security of the 170th Brigade after he was arrested with a quantity of hashish and drugs in his possession. He pointed out that the accused had been beaten by the Islah elements before he was taken to the police station.
