MAHRA, Dec. 08 (YPA) – The head of the security department in the sit-in committee against the foreign presence in Mahra province, eastern Yemen, Muslim Raafit, called on the province people to reject suspicious movements that threaten security and social peace.
Raafit emphasized that Mahra’s people reject recruitment for armed factions that threaten its security and stability, stating that “Mahra does not need to bring chaos to it, similar to the situation in southern regions.”
He explained that there are those who are attempting to engulf the people of Mahra into sectarian turmoil and impose ideological conflict.
This comes after Saudi officers at Al-Ghaydah Airport coordinated with extremist Salafist figures who came to Mahra years ago to recruit their members into the “Dera Al-Watan” factions funded by Riyadh.
Mahra activists considered that the Saudi moves seek to undermine security and stability in the province, which will have serious consequences for regional and international security.
Saudi Arabia is seeking to establish a “Dera Al-Watan” in Mahra to achieve its old dream by extending the oil pipeline from Al-Kharkhir through the Yemeni lands of Mahra to reach the Arabian Sea, which has been rejected for the past decades.
