Meteorology warns Sanaa, 6 provinces residents of severe cold wave

SANAA, Dec. 04 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expected on Wednesday cloud-free, extremely cold weather at night and during the early morning in the provinces of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, and Bayda, and the highlands of Al-Dhalea and Ibb.

The center, in its weather bulletin, predicted cold weather for the next 24 hours in Jawf and Marib provinces and the highlands of Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, and Hadramout. The day will be mostly clear, with the possibility of cumulus clouds over scattered highlands west of Saada, Hajjah, Mahweet, and Raymah. Fog may form on slopes and high areas at night and early morning.

The coastal areas in northern Tihama and the Socotra Archipelago experience fair to partly cloudy weather with the potential for rain clouds and a maximum wind speed of 22 knots, according to the center’s bulletin.

The center called on citizens in mountainous areas and interior plateaus, especially children, the elderly, and workers during the late night and early morning hours, to take the necessary measures to protect against cold and very cold weather.

It urged farmers to take necessary precautions and follow instructions to protect their crops, livestock, bees, and bird herders from the effects of extreme cold.
