SANAA, Nov. 25 (YPA) – The Ministry of Agriculture in Sanaa, condemned the various provocations and violations faced by fishermen in the territorial waters of the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden, following the deployment of Emirati forces, naval vessels, and militias in the city of Shihr in Hadramout Governorate.
In an official statement issued today, the Ministry reiterated its firm rejection of any actions aimed at restricting fishermen’s freedom to practice their profession within Yemen’s territorial waters.
It described these actions as a blatant breach of international principles concerning the freedom of navigation and the rights of fishermen to legally and safely access marine resources, in accordance with international laws and agreements that protect peoples’ rights to exploit their natural resources.
The statement called on the international community, as well as organizations concerned with human rights and maritime navigation freedom, to bear responsibility and put pressure on the Emirati occupation forces to halt these violations.
It also called for immediate action to lift the illegal restrictions imposed on the territorial waters of the Arabian Sea and to provide adequate protection for Yemeni fishermen in both the Red and Arabian Seas.
