Hamas expresses its solidarity with Spanish people in light of devastating floods

GAZA, Oct. 01 (YPA) – Hamas leader Dr. Basem Naim expressed the Movement’s and the Palestinian people’s solidarity with the Spanish people following the devastating floods in the Valencia region.

In his message to the Spanish people on Thursday, Naim said, “Despite the pain and suffering we are experiencing in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Zionist genocidal war, we send our messages of solidarity and love to the friendly Spanish people, especially in the Valencia region, after the destructive floods that have resulted in hundreds of dead and missing, as well as immense damage to homes and public properties.”

The Hamas leader added, “We wish the brotherly people of Spain a swift recovery and the ability to overcome this humanitarian disaster, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured, and our condolences to the families of the deceased and the missing.”

Spain is one of the Western countries that has declared its recognition of the State of Palestine and its support, joining South Africa’s genocide case against Israel’s war on Gaza at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Regarding the floods in Spain, the authorities reported dozens of deaths on Wednesday due to heavy rains that swept through southeastern Spain, particularly in Valencia and the Andalusia region, creating chaos in the affected areas.

These floods are considered the most severe in Spain since August 1996.

Scientists warn that extreme weather phenomena such as heatwaves and storms are becoming more frequent, longer-lasting, and more intense due to climate change.
