UN: All residents of northern Gaza are at risk of death

NEW YORK, Oct. 28 (YPA) – A senior UN humanitarian official has warned that “all residents in northern Gaza are at risk of death.”

Joyce Msuya, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, said, “Israeli forces cannot be allowed to continue what they are doing in besieged northern Gaza.”

Msuya’s warning comes at a time when the Israeli occupation forces are continuing their military operation in the northern Gaza Strip, which is isolated from the rest of the besieged Strip.

In turn, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his shock at the massive levels of killing, injury and destruction” in northern Gaza recently, according to what his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, reported on Sunday. He stressed that “the suffering of Palestinian civilians trapped in northern Gaza is unbearable.”

“Hospitals have been bombed and health workers arrested. Shelters have been emptied and set on fire. First responders have been prevented from rescuing people trapped under rubble. Families have been separated, and men and boys have been taken away in trucks,” Msuya wrote in a post on “X” Saturday.

It is worth noting that these crimes are repeated within the framework of the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
The UN official added that there are reports of “hundreds of Palestinians being killed” in northern Gaza, while “tens of thousands have been forcibly displaced again.”
Msouya concluded her post by calling for “an end to the blatant disregard for basic principles of humanity and the laws of war.”

In a related context, an official from the International Committee of the Red Cross described the situation in northern Gaza as “horrific,” noting that the north includes the Gaza Governorate and the North Gaza Governorate.

The deputy head of the Red Cross delegation in the Gaza Strip, Stephanie Eller, confirmed in a press briefing yesterday, Saturday, that the current evacuation orders and the ongoing restrictions on the delivery of vital supplies have forced the remaining civilians in northern Gaza to face “horrific” conditions.
