Israeli airstrikes target residential areas in southern Beirut, leaving casualties

BEIRUT, Oct. 19 (YPA) -The Israeli occupation renewed its bombardment of residential buildings in the southern Beirut suburb today, Saturday, continuing brutal attacks on various Lebanese areas, resulting in casualties.

According to Lebanese sources, Israeli drones and fighter jets conducted over four consecutive airstrikes on the southern Beirut suburb and its surroundings.

The strikes targeted residential buildings in Haret Hreik, Burj al-Barajneh, and the Choueifat area, causing widespread destruction and fires.

Earlier, two individuals (a man and a woman) were killed when an Israeli drone targeted their vehicle on the Jounieh highway heading towards Beirut, as reported by Lebanese health authorities.

Traffic was disrupted on the Jounieh highway due to the Israeli aggression.

In the Bekaa Valley, Israeli attacks included a strike on Baaloul, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including the mayor of Sahl Mar Hader, and injuring about ten others.

Elsewhere in south Lebanon, media sources reported Israeli strikes on Sarafand, Qabrikha, Toul, Ansar, Qana, Maaroub, Kafra, Beir Leef, Teir Harfa Bint Jbeil, Aynat, Ayta al-Shaab and Yatar.

The Israeli aircraft hit Tayr Harfa, Majdal Zoun and Mansouri in the Sour district, as well as Kfar Houne in the Jezzine district, Kfar Roummane in the Nabatieh district and Khiam in the Marjayoun district. Jbaa, in the Nabatieh district, was hit by a drone.

In southern Lebanon, the Israeli occupation army carried out late-afternoon strikes on Jabal al-Botom, Rash Qanay, Beit Lif and Tayr Harfa. It launched three missiles at Aita al-Shaab and hit Hanine, as well as Odaisseh and Dhaira.

The death toll from the  Israeli aggression on Lebanon has reached 2,367 martyrs and over 11,000 injured.
