Hadramout tribes close western entrance to Mukalla, set up their first armed points

HADRAMOUT, Sept. 05 (YPA) – The “Hadramout Tribes Confederacy” established on Thursday the first armed points west of the city of Mukalla, the center of Hadramout province.

This comes as part of the confederacy’s escalations against the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition since the beginning of last August.

Tribal sources reported that armed vanguards from the tribal confederacy imposed control on the western gate of Mukalla amid expectations of a gradual advance towards the city controlled by the factions funded by the UAE, all the way to Al-Dabbah oil port.

The Hadramout Tribes Confederacy announced in a statement this afternoon the inauguration of the positioning of a point west of Mukalla to exert more pressure and preserve the wealth of Hadramout.

The confederacy attributed the field movements to the continued intransigence and procrastination by “President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi” towards the legitimate demands of Hadramout.

The statement indicated that the confederacy took steps on the ground to be followed by several measures until all demands were met.

Mukalla and a number of coastal districts witnessed angry student and popular demonstrations and protests as a result of the deterioration of living and service conditions, especially the electricity sector, and the rise in transportation fees because of the rise imposed by the government on diesel.
